A Day In Brighton

Brighton is a sleepy, yet happening area along the water, about 1 hour south of London's center. It resembles Santa Cruz, California with the chill vibe and calm waters. Along "The Lanes" there are shops, restaurants and lots of street venders selling everything from vinyl records to shoes. A 10 minute walk gets you to the water where there are pebbles instead of sand, but lots of people happy to lay and sunbathe. You'll be entertained but the bongo drums and random artists singing and playing their guitars. Fun day!

Salsa!

Karine visited me in London! and of course we had to go salsa dancing. There is tons of dancing here, mostly during the week nights, but we did find a place near Tottenham Court. 4 and a 1/2 hours later, as the place was closing, we still wanted to keep going. Super fun night!

A Walk Around Abbey

Westminster Abbey is famous for the many burials and shrines, including 17 monarchs and numerous tombs of kings and queens. The Gothic church is massive and people flock from all over London and the world to worship, sing and celebrate. Lucky for me its about a 15 minute walk from work :) and sits next to the Palace of Westminster (House of Parliament).

Portugal

I love Portugal! From the moment I landed in Lisbon, I fell in love with the vibe of the city, and I know there is so much more along the coast to explore. The people are very friendly and the weather was great. I was there for work for a few days and met some very nice people. The first night, we went to the Barrio Alto where there are narrow cobblestone streets with small restaurants and shops. The next day we ate down near the Ponte 25 de Abril (25th of April Bridge). The bridge was originally named after dictator Salazar, and suspenses across the Tagus River. The name was changed after the revolution of April 25, 1974. Does it look familiar?...maybe like the GG bridge?

Weekend in Paris

Last weekend Karine was visiting Europe for work so we met in Paris at Marianne's house, after her quick stop in London. Marianne lives 15 mins walking from the Louvre and was so nice to let us stay; thank you! We took a boat ride down the Seine and it was nice to see all of the architecture as we passed by the Museo de Orsey and under the many bridges which have such detailed sculptures. There were lots of house boats and also boats that were bars and restaurants...you can't get much closer to the water than that. If anyone wants a good business idea, restaurant/bar boat! And of course we spent at least half of our time eating until midnight and in search of the perfect chocolate eclair.
